The apple symbolizes health, learning, beauty, sweetness, comfort, variety, abundance, and the fruit of our labor. It's also the mysterious and forbidden fruit of temptation, with an intoxicating lure of goodness, prosperity, and immortality. The apple has wormed its way into folklore, religion, parables, computers, Americana, prohibition, and aphorisms ("an apple a day…").

At its core, the apple is simple and sweet, tasty and tart, naughty and nice. A good, crisp apple delights, puckers, tempts, and satisfies. This is the stuff of which all dreams, real life, and good work are made.

Autobiography In Five Short Chapters
By Portia Nelson

I
I walk down the street.
There is a deep hole in the sidewalk.
I fall in.
I didn't see it.
I am lost... I am helpless.
It takes forever to find a way out.

II
I walk down the same street.
There is a deep hole in the sidewalk.
I pretend I don't see it.
I fall in again.
I can't believe I am in the same place.
I just couldn't avoid it.
It still takes a long time to get out.

III
I walk down the same street.
There is a deep hole in the sidewalk.
I see it is there.
I still fall in...It's a habit.
My eyes are open.
I know where I am.
What was I thinking?!
I get out immediately.

IV
I walk down the same street.
There is a deep hole in the sidewalk.
I walk around it.

V
I walk down another street.
